The Costa del Sol coastline is sheltered by hills and high mountains which gives it a micro climate with limited rainfall. As a result the region enjoys sunshine in excess of 320 days per year.
Mijas has year round sun which is ideal for your family vacation or a short winter break from the grey skies of home. The summer months, in particular July and August , are hot with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C but in Villa Pilar you benefit from the mild mountain breeze which takes the sting out of the mid-day sun and makes it an ideal holiday villa any time of the year.
The winter days are bright, warm and sunny and the best time of year to play golf and tennis or explore the region by car. The evenings can be quite cool so bring a wrap or light sweater for your stroll to the restaurant or al fresco dining at the villa.
Note that the weather at the villa tends to be warmer than Mijas (because of the mountains) and Malaga airport (because it is exposed to cool sea breezes). A better indication is given by the weather forecast for Torremolinos.
